The Uttari Chotanagpur Progressive FPC is promoted by WWY to increase production capacity, yield, and income of smallholder rural and tribal farmers in remote area of Barkagaon block by providing direct access to agricultural input, services and market linkage.

UTTARI CHOTANAGPUR PROGRESSIVE FARMER PRODUCER COMPANY LIMITED(UCProFPC)

Collectivization of producers, especially small and marginal farmers into producer organisations has emerged as one of the most effective pathways to address the many challenges of agriculture but most importantly, improved access to investments, technology and inputs and markets.

Intending to provide livelihood alternatives to the poor farmers in Barkagaon block of Hazaribag district, WWY has promoted an FPO covering 700 farmers members. The details of the FPO is given below:

Core activities of FPO:

1. Promotion of organic vegetables & spices; value addition and marketing.
2. Mushroom cultivation, value addition and marketing.
3. Supply of agricultural inputs such as seeds, compost, pesticides, seedlings, etc.
4. Introducing low-cost agricultural equipment for reducing the hardship of the farmers.
5. Paddy & wheat procurement and marketing.
6. Promotion of Bamboo based handcrafted item(s), value addition and marketing (additional activity)

In last 1 year, through the training and capacity building, WWY has promoted more than 700 farmers into 35 FIGs (farmer interested group) in the Barkagaon block.
